Manager Wayne Wanklyn priorities were there for all to see when naming the side to face Westwood Utd in the Becks & Bucks Intermediate Cup at Cantley Park Saturday. Wanklyn left six or seven players out of his starting line up who I am sure would have started if this would have been a league fixture. The two plus's to come out of an otherwise disappointing afternoon were that both leading scorer Richard Bland and Ben Rice returned after weeks out on the side recovering from injuries. The home side found themsleves 3-0 down within the first 30 minutes. Neil Hanson pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time, and althought Richard Bland reduced the deficit midway through the second period, they could not breakthrough a well organized Westwood defence. With the Reading League side making the game safe in the final minute. Manager Wanklyn commented. " This competition was not top of the list in priority, being 2nd in the Division at the moment and still in the League cup are far higher ". " However this game let me have a look at several squad players who needed a run out, but it must be said that one or two of them didn't do themselves any favours and it answered a few questions for me ".
