Wokingham & Emmbrook were narrowly beaten 3-2 away to premiership side Milton Utd on Saturday (1/11) in the League Cup. Fans favorite Darren Thorne and the hard working James Wise were men on target for the Satsuma’s. Manager Wayne Wanklyn was happy with the teams performance stating “we had a number of regulars missing today, and the lads coming in did more than enough to suggest we have a squad capable of challenging for promotion this season. Although I do not like singling players out I thought Tommy Chapman was outstanding in the centre of our midfield”
4th November 2008
Wokingham & Emmbrook prouduced an excellent display to brush aside Prestwood on their home patch. Goals from James Wise (2) and Neil Hanson gave the visitors a 3-0 half time lead. In the second period Wise completed his hat-trick with a neat near post header, before a supberb Sam Duffelen strike made it five. Prestwood then pulled a goal back, before we completed the scoring, with the Prestwood centre half slicing the ball into his own net, whilst under pressure from Darren Thorne. Manager Wanklyn was delighted with the overall performance. " A big pitch seems to suit us, it allows us to pass the ball around and we tend to use every inch of it ". " The home side struggled all afternoon to deal with this and they were always being stretched at the back , we could quite easily have reached double figure's but a 1 - 6 win away will do us nicely " . " To Prestwood's credit they tried to get the ball down and play and never gave up " .

Another goal from John Bennett secured three points for Ascot United at Englefield Green Rovers and keeps them a point ahead of the chasing clubs.
Wokingham & Emmbrook recovered from their reverse against Newbury last week and over ran Prestwood winning 6-1 after Stuart Hawkes had put Prestwood ahead in the 1st minute. James Wise levelled in the 17th minute and Neal Hanson netted the second, Wise scored his second five minutes before the break for 3-1 It became 4-1 when Wise completed his hat trick in the 49th minute and an own goal went in on the hour. ROUND-UP IN ONE EAST Wokingham & Emmbrook lost top spot and with such tight placing at the top of the Division Wokingham dropped to 4th place after a 2-1 home defeat by Newbury. Newbury nicked the lead a minute from the break with a Danny Lachacz goal that was levelled in the 62nd minute by Whiting but Nathan Stamp sealed a Newbury win with an 86th minute strike. Ascot United goes top after a 5-1 demolition of Henley Town. John Bennett opened and closed the Ascot scoring with Andy Gavin and Andy Lumbe netting. Bennett made it a hat trick with the fifth goal from the penalty spot. Binfield are second equal on points but with a game in hand after a 3-0 win against struggling Thame United. First half goals from Gary Sargent and Scott Williams put the home team in command and they increased their lead in the 81st minute when Callum Whitty netted. Kintbury Rangers won 2-0 at Penn & Tylers Green go fifth just a point behind the leaders as two second half goals from Jason Brizzell sealed the win. Finchampstead continued their good run with a 3-0 win against Eton Wick. A draw resulted at Holyport with Chris Woods levelling Tommy Hedges goal for Englefield Green Rovers. A goal in the 44th minute from Bisley’s Ross Knight saw off Launton Sports whilst Rayners Lane and Prestwood could not manage a goal between them though.
20th October 2008
Wokingham & Emmbrook fell to their second defeat of the season on Saturday (18/10) with a 2-1 defeat at home to Newbury. Steve Tranter was given his debut, as he came in for the suspended centre half Shaun Wanklyn. The impressive Sam Whiting gave the home side hope with a well taken goal to level the match midway through the second half, however with satsumas pushing for the victory, Newbury caught them on the counter to score what proved to be the winner. A disappointed Wayne Wanklyn commented " The two goals we conceded were sloppy, we should have defended them better ". " Overall I thought we did well against a very good side and it was good to see both sides trying to win the game ". " We aren't going to win every game with such a young side who are still on a learning curve and they are certainly getting better ". " We now have to focus on next weeks game at Prestwood and make sure we collect all three points to keep us in contention ". " However I was pleased with the performance of new boy Steve Tranter who looked solid throughout, until he tired towards the end but this was to be expected coming out of local football ".
Richard is due to have talks with the Camberley managment today with a view to moving to the Hampshire outfit. All at Wokingham & Emmbrook FC would like to take this opportunatiy to wish Blandy all the very best for the future.
14th October 2008
There was a lot of surprised faces amoung our supporters on Saturday as they looked around to see leading goal scorer Richard Bland standing with them. Manager Wayne Wanklyn said after the game that local rivals Camberley Town had filed a seven day approach for our inform striker, and that Richard was interested in speaking with them. Wayne went on to explain" I did not feel he would be in the right frame of mind, and fully focused on the game".
13th October 2008
ROUND-UP IN ONE EAST There were wins for most of the leading clubs in One EAST although Ascot United suffered a rare defeat at Kintbury losing 2-1 after taking a first half lead through Paul Fagg. Callum Wilmoth levelled a minute from the break and Shaun Dyke, who has resolved his disagreement with manager Bobby Wilkinson netted a 90th minute winner. A goal from Callum Whitty five minutes from time secured the points for Binfield at Prestwood. Wokingham & Emmbrook beat near neighbours Holyport 3-0, a Nick Bateman first half goal was added to in the second period by Sam Whiting and Luke Lee. Henley Town and Newbury drew 1-1 as did Eton Wick and Bisley Sports. Englefield Green Rovers were another to draw 1-1, Penn & Tylers took a first half lead but Ben Whatford levelled ten minutes into the second period. Chinnor were beaten 3-0 at home by Finchampstead and South Kilburn won 2-0 at Rayners Lane. The battle at the bottom confounded all the Hellenic pundits as Thame United beat Launton Sports 6-1. Manager Wayne Wanklyn priorities were there for all to see when naming the side to face Westwood Utd in the Becks & Bucks Intermediate Cup at Cantley Park Saturday. Wanklyn left six or seven players out of his starting line up who I am sure would have started if this would have been a league fixture. The two plus's to come out of an otherwise disappointing afternoon were that both leading scorer Richard Bland and Ben Rice returned after weeks out on the side recovering from injuries. The home side found themsleves 3-0 down within the first 30 minutes. Neil Hanson pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time, and althought Richard Bland reduced the deficit midway through the second period, they could not breakthrough a well organized Westwood defence. With the Reading League side making the game safe in the final minute. Manager Wanklyn commented. " This competition was not top of the list in priority, being 2nd in the Division at the moment and still in the League cup are far higher ". " However this game let me have a look at several squad players who needed a run out, but it must be said that one or two of them didn't do themselves any favours and it answered a few questions for me ". There were a couple of ‘giant killers’, as in every cup competition, two goals from Trowbridge Town’s Tom Pang in the second half was enough to dump Bicester Town after veteran Paul Spittle had given the Premier side a first half lead. A goal from Hook Norton’s Carl Standen was not enough to hold ONE WEST Wootton Bassett Town who won with two from Ryan Banks. The all Division One ties saw Holyport victorious 2-0 at Englefield Green and Chinnor recorded a 3-0 win at Eton Wick with the goals coming in extra time. ONE WEST leaders Hardwicke were given an almighty shock by visitor’s Clanfield, who seem to be improving week on week, Adam Dunnford gave Hardwicke a 2-0 lead by half time but Clanfield responded in the second half with two goals from Ashley Johnson but Shane Anson netted a winner for the new boys in the 87th minute. Penn & Tylers went down to a 4-0 home defeat against top ONE EAST club Ascot United, Rich Mills netted twice with John Bennett also scoring after Sam McIntyre had scored in the first half. A goal from Steve Thompson put Tytherington Rocks into the next round in the all ONE WEST tie at Pewsey Vale. It was goals galore at Prestwood with the tie finishing 5-5 after 90 minutes. Extra time goals from Joe Warner and Rob Hogg put Finchampstead into the next round draw. Rayners Lane were no match for Binfield who won 4-1 to progress. Two goals from Henley Town’s Chris Bark helped Henley Town to a 4-1 win against Purton. Four goals from Ardley United’s Jason Costello saw off the challenge of ONE WEST title aspirants Letcombe. Highworth Town travelled to ONE EAST Bisley and returned to Wiltshire with a 3-0 victory. Tony Joyce scored in the first period with Bradley Gill converting a 62nd minute penalty and Tom Dingle adding a third in the 75th minute. Carterton edged out ONE EAST new boys Newbury 2-1 whilst Flackwell Heath scored TEN against ONE WEST Headington Amateur’s. Leigh Mason scored a hat trick but Ricardo Cannon went one better netting four times in a 10 – 3 win. James Wise Scored the only goal of the game in the 18th minute to secure a 1-0 win at Launton Sports on Saturday (20/09). Manager Wayne Wanklyn was pleased with the points and commented " I said to the players at half time that a battle was needed to get the result, and to their credit they did that ". " We should have won more comfortably and with the two one on wons against their keeper, we should have done better ". " A pleasing thing though was that for the first time this season we kept a clean sheet, with Shaun Wanklyn, Grant Lewin and Neil Hanson doing well ". Match report

ROUND-UP IN ONE EAST
The leading clubs in ONE EAST were all successful away from home with Ascot United maintaining top spot with a 2-1 win at Chinnor John Bennett netted his 16th league goal of the season to put Ascot two up after Dunn had scored after twenty minutes. Ryan Davis pulled one back on the half hour but Chinnor were unable to snatch a point.
Wokingham & Emmbrook visited bottom club Launton Sports who appointed Eddie Nix as their manager last week after Robert Dick left the club. An 18th minute goal from James Wise was all that found the net to give Wokingham the points but this was a vastly improved performance from Sports.
The third away winner was Newbury who took the points with a 2-0 win at Penn & Tylers Green with late goals from Madden and Hill. Fourth placed Binfield were successful in their FA Vase tie at Wantage Town and Kintbury Rangers had a 3-0 win at Prestwood. First half goals came from Tom Gooding and Mike Davis with Steve Rackham netting the third in the 89th minute. South Kilburn have started their first season in the Hellenic well recording their fourth win thanks to a Simeon Fearon goal late in the first half against Englefield Green Rovers. Finchampstead and Bisley drew 1-1.
The U18's picked up their first win of the season in the Allied Counties Premier League last night (17/09), with a fine win away to last season's North division champions, Sun Postal Sports. With Jack Ingrim scoring the only goal of the game midway through the first half. Manager Nigel Bateman said "He would have been happy with a point from this game, so to come away with all three was a real bonus. It's only the third time the lads have played together, and you can see things are improving with each game, although I do feel we need to lift our fitness levels"

ROUND-UP IN ONE EAST
Only Binfield of the top three in ONE EAST were victorious this weekend. Two goals in the first half from Danny Wing saw Binfield beat Penn & Tylers Green 2-0.
There were draws for Ascot United, 0-0, at Henley Town and Wokingham & Emmbrook 1-1 against Englefield Green. It seemed that a goal from Shaun Stevens would win the points for Englefield but a 90th minute equaliser was netted by Sam Whiting.
Newbury recorded another win beating Eton Wick 2-1 at Faraday Road with Shaun Thorpe and Adam Drake scoring and sit in 4th spot.
Holyport beat Bisley Sports 5-2 to go 5th and a 2-0 win at Chinnor saw Kintbury Rangers go 6th. It was a Fearon double from Marcus and Simeon that won the points for South Kilburn at Finchampstead.

Wokingham & Emmbrook encountered a strong and physical Englefield Green side on Saturday at the Runnymede Stadium, and came away with a well earned 1-1 draw, with Sam Whiting side footing home a cross from Darren Thorne in the 90th minute. With Manager Wanklyn abroad, his assistant Roger Herridge commented " I wasn't to disappointed with the first half showing, we created a few chances and caused them problems down the flanks". " We defended quite well not allowing them to get behind us". " But in the second half we stopped doing the things that were troubling them and played right into their hands ". " Poor refereeing didn't help although you cant blame the official for our poor second half performance and we probably got out of jail as Thorny did look offside, but we kept battling and were rewarded in the end". When asked about the return of top scorer Richard Bland, Herridge replied " He is still two or three weeks away from a return ".

Boss Wayne Wanklyn admits his side are going through their first difficult spell of the season. The Satsumas started their Ftl Futbol Hellenic League Division One East campaign with all guns blazing as five straight wins put them clear at the top of the table. But just one point from their last two games has seen them overtaken at the summit by Ascot United and Wanklyn knows his side must return to winning ways as quickly as possible. “We’re not playing well at the moment, we’ve dropped five points in our last two games. Last Saturday was probably our worst display this season in terms of our overall performance. We were pretty poor and we need to pick things up. Ascot are ahead of us now but I’m not really worried about them at the moment. We just need to concentrate on winning our own games. There’s about half a dozen teams in the league who think they have a chance and we need to make sure we stay with them. The most important thing will be when we play those sides, they are games we must win.” Wokingham travel to Englefield Green Rovers tomorrow and Wanklyn is wary of the threat they pose, despite their slow start to the season. He said: “They’ve had a few strange results and probably haven’t started as well as they would have wanted to, but we know it will be a difficult game. We need to get back to winning ways and start finding our form again so the lads will be up for it on Saturday.” Wanklyn’s squad could be boosted this weekend by the return of top scorer Richard Bland who has missed the last two games due to injury.

ROUND-UP IN ONE EAST
Ascot United and Binfield remain unbeaten in ONE EAST but Wokingham & Emmbrook still top the table after a surprise defeat against Henley Town, who have not had the best of starts. Riccardo Riccio put Henley two up either side of the break and although Sam Whiting and James Wise scored to level a Jon Donegan five minutes from time sealed the win. Ascot United were in fine form beating visitor’s Prestwood 6-1 with John Bennett netting four in the last 30 minutes.
A goal from Justin McClurg six minutes from time provided the points for Binfield and inflicted the first defeat of the season on hosts Kintbury Rangers. Penn & Tylers Green overcame Holyport winning 4-2 with Jamie Hunt scoring twice. Newbury have lost just once in six but came close to sharing the points. Nathan Stamp gave the home team a 14th minute lead with Chinnor equalising in the 74th minute through Adam Stallwood. The points were wrested by Newbury with an 89th minute own goal.
A goal from Paul Burrows saw Englefield Green win at Rayners Lane. Three matches finished all square, Launton Sports were held 1-1 at home to Finchampstead, Bisley Sports and South Kilburn did not trouble the scorer. Eton Wick drew 2-2 at home to Thame United who had taken a 0-2 with goals from Luke Beckett and Matt Miller. Ryan Coupland replied for Eton Wick with goals in the 62nd and 70th minutes.

Wokingham and Emmbrook played the first games at their new home, Cantley Park over the bank holiday weekend. Over two hundred spectators watched as the Satsumas record wins four and five against South Kilburn and Thame Utd respectfully. Chairman Glenn Duggleby said, It's great to finally be here, and the facilities are proving excellent. However, all the hard work start now with the upgrading. He would also like to thank all those at the Wokingham Hockey Club for making us all so welcome. The Satsumas take on local rivals Henley Town this Saturday (30th) 3pm kick-off.
ROUND-UP IN ONE EAST The move of ground to Cantley Park seems to have worked for Wokingham & Emmbrook as they recorded win number FOUR beating South Kilburn 4-2 and sit top of the Division. Four Clubs are on eight points from four matches, headed by Ascot United who beat Thame United 2-1 with goals from Sam Dennison and Steve Curtis. Holyport and Kintbury Rangers met at Inkpen Road ’Rec’ and didn’t manage a goal between them though Shaun Dyke had a terrific chance to give Rangers all three points but missed a penalty. The fourth member of the ‘8 point club’ is Binfield who drew at home with Newbury. Binfield took the lead twice through Tim Walsh and Scott Williams but equaliser’s came from Adam Kingsbeer and Jack Smillie. Wokingham and Emmbrook FC have agreed with The Hellenic League and Wokingham Borough Council to be able to use Cantley Park as our home venue for the 2008/2009 season This is in advance of any development under recent planning permissions ie. Floodlights, stand etc. It has been agreed that for one season only we can play at Cantley Park as a 'hirer' with no alteration to the existing facility. This is fantastic news for all concerned as it will enable all stakeholders at Cantley Park to trial 'working together'. The alterations not expected to commence until early 2009 and all stakeholders will be fully informed Wokingham and Emmbrook FC would like to thank The Hellenic League and Wokingham Borough Council for their proactive approach and very much look forward to being part of the regenaration of our sports facility at Cantley Park Mark Ashwell (President)
We are proud to announce that the skills and dedication of two of our rising stars have been recognised by England and the F.A. David Bellis and Alex Walton will be joining up with other talented lads from around the country for the England Schoolboy trials. The England squad will be selected following a week long trial. As many of you will know David and Alex were star performers in last season’s Championship winning Allied Counties under 18 squad and this season will again form the ‘backbone’ and now also the experience for the Allied’s ‘journey’ into the challenging Allied Counties Premier Division. In addition to performing for the achieving Forest School and County side’s, last season David and Alex also effortlessly made the transition from youth football into the 1st team, where they regularly turned in ‘man-of-the-match’ performances in Wayne’s young and developing side. They are again expected to play a big part in this season’s senior campaign. All at the Club wish them all the luck at their trial with the England Schoolboys set-up and hope to bring you the news about how they get on. Chair

After 4 years of substantial support from pulse8 I have just carried out
a review of this very generous sponsorship deal with the pulse8 senior
management.
The result of that review is that the gyms current policies mean that
the membership offered to our club has to change as follows:
There will be no more free memberships, however we have agreed a FC club
rate of £38 per month for all of you on the existing list. This is
further subsidised for the first 6 months so that the monthly fee will
be only £19 for this period, then rising to £38 after that. Current
standard fees are approx. £50 pm.
This deal also applies to any other FC members who wish to join pulse 8,
who have not previously had a membership there.
Also if any FC member is a current gym member they will be able to
transfer to the club rate of £38 pm, but not with the 6 month discounted
rate.
Hopefully you will all recognise that this is still a good deal and that
you will want to take advantage of it. If we get a good take up
throughout the FC there is potential for other deals in the future. We
are also discussing tuesday night fitness sessions for the 1st/Allied
squads during the season.
Your current membership will go ON HOLD on June 1st, so you will need
to get back to ME asap to let me know what you want to do and I will let
Paul know. He will NOT reinstate your membership without my email
confirmation. You will then need to set up your DD with them and then
carry on pumping iron or 'posing' as before.
I hope this is clear, but if you have any queries give me a call or
email me.
